Our favourite passtime as a family at Nxamseri was getting on to a boat and floating down the Nxamaseri channel to meet up with the main channel - the Okavango River... fishing, chilling, tanning or even having our management meetings and sundowners.

What do guests do at Nxamaseri? Fishing, birding, fishing, fishing and fishing. What do staff do at Nxamaseri? Fishing. What does management do at Nxamaseri? Fishing and arranging everone else's fishing trips. Nxamaseri is famous for tiger fishing and for bream. The barbel run (mid Aug - mid Nov)is also something very spectacular to see - it's like a feeding frenzy. You don't have to be a good fisherman to catch about 70 tigers in one trip.

The best fishing lodge in the Okavango Delta is by far Nxamaseri Island Lodge. The fishing area is from Shakawe to Sepupa and Nxamaseri is right in the middle. Ofcourse Nxamaseri Island Lodge also offers the best accommodation in that area. Other lodges are Drotsky's, Shakawe Fishing Lodge (old and tired lodge) and Xaro Lodge (new tented lodge). All these lodges offer fishing trips, but Nxamaseri is by far the most african and rustic luxury lodge - great staff, great food, great fishing and great birding.
This is also one of the areas which has the most fish eagles in Africa and the rare pelsh fishing owl. The picture below was taken right infront of our lodge when a fish eaglehelped himself toa snack.

So we watched the sunset every single day... it was like living in paradise... more to come...

1. Sounds absolutely lovely - wouldnt mind sundowners and fishing for tigers here!
2. What an incredible opportunity to live and work here Anza! I guess if you didn't like fish before, you had to get used to it! Did you ever feel unsafe out on the water with your son? ie: crocs and hippos and such?
3. I couldn't think of anything more peaceful than floating gently through the Delta as the sun sets!
