What is your favourite beach in Africa? I’m expecting a few ‘Clifton 4ths’ and ‘Camps bay’ Favourites of course, and for good reason, but if you have any special beaches you’ve been to and would like to share - then go ahead!
My favourites include Llandudno in Cape Town, Kelly Beach in Port Alfred, and Mkhambathi on the Wild Coast…

Sodwana Bay is one of my favourites! Even though its famous for its diving and I am not a diver, the surrounding areas and the Nature reserve is totally fabulous to explore.

my absolutefavoritebeach is in cape town (surprisesurprise) situated between Seaforth and Bolders in Simons Town. Its tiny tiny and completely surrounded by massive boulders which kind of makes it more like a lake than the ocean, and its great because the penguins swim right underneath and around you, plus, its on theIndianOcean side of Cape Town so the water is marginally warmer.

My favourite place in the world is Arniston Bay, but my favourite beach has to be the 14km unspoilt, white sandy beach of Struisbaai. Now very popular with kite surfers. The water is warm and you can literally walk for miles on end. This is also the only stretch of beach I know where the argonauta shell washes out and usually only during April and May.

My favourite is Onrus which is a tiny little seaside resort just before Hermanus. It is a small bay which has a gorgeous mountain backdrop and an amazing lagoon for children to play safely in. The lagoon waters are warm and shallow and my young children spend days playing in the water on their boogie boards. The sea here is quite rough so is perfect for surfing and indeed you will find many young and old surfers alike riding the waves. Right next to the beach is a fabulous restaurant called the Milkwood. The chef/Owner Frank is known throughout the Boland area for his fabulous food. It is well worth a visit for any tourist/family visiting Hermanus.

My favourite beach is Beta Beach in Bakoven… Pack your picnic basket, choose a shady spot on the gigantic boulders and stare at the water mass, as far as the eye can see. Great for Kids (and 4 legged ones) as it offers a secluded beach with white sand and a tidal pool.Great for swimming! Best of all it’s at the National Sea Rescues “depot” - so very, very safe! Parking can sometimes be a nightmare, but worth looking for.

At the risk of inundating my special little beaches, I would have to agree with Yolanda and Nicola. The tiny, tiny little beach next to Boulders is called Windmill beach. It’s far enough from Cape Town city to feel like you are getting away from it all - even just for a day.
But my new favourite is Arniston Bay. Great beach for swimming and the water is much warmer than Cape Town! It’s a very chilled out little town with not much to do except relax and enjoy!
Further a field though, I loved the Seychelles. We spent the whole morning swimming off this island because the water was so refreshing (cooler than the swimming pool)!

The beaches between Mdumbi and Presley Bay on the Wild Coast are spectacular! Otherwise Koel Bay near Gordon’s Bay is also beautiful.

Having been privileged enough to visit Mozambique, Zanzibar and Mauritius - in my opinion the beach sand in Zanzibar has got to be the best - powder soft and white!
Hmmm still have to test beach sand in Seychelles…!
